OUR TREATMENTS

WHAT TO
EXPECT

IPL uses light energy to target a certain colour in your skin.

When the skin is heated, your body gets rid of the unwanted cells, and that gets rid of the thing you’re being treated for. Unlike lasers, an IPL device sends out more than one wavelength of pulsating light. It can treat a range of skin conditions at the same time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

What does IPL help with?
It's a type of light therapy used to treat a variety of skin concerns such as wrinkles, age spots, spider veins, sun damage, pigmentation, fine lines, loose skin and unwanted hair. Downtime is minimal and results are noticed after one treatment with our Medical IPL Laser.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE IT DONE ?

How long does IPL take to heal?
IPL is a quick and convenient cosmetic procedure that doesn't have any real downtime. Pigmentation can darken after treatment and may gently flake 3-4 days post-treatment. Some clients experience immediate skin improvements but most changes are more evident from 2 – 4 weeks with a collagen increase 30-90 days post-treatment.

IS IT PERMANENT?

Can IPL tighten skin?
IPL Skin Tightening is effective on the face including the jawline, neck and chin. It also minimizes pore size which smoothes the texture of the skin. The skin tightening also reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

More Details

IPL is similar to a laser treatment. However, a laser focuses just one wavelength of light at your skin, while IPL releases light of many different wavelengths, like a photo flash.

The light from IPL is more scattered and less focused than a laser. IPL penetrates down to the second layer of your skin (dermis) without harming the top layer (epidermis), so it causes less damage to your skin.

You begin to see a change in your face within a week to 10 days and on the other treated areas of your body within 6-8 weeks.

Not all IPL Laser machines are made the same. Our Lynton Lumina Laser is medical grade and is used by the NHS. Results are generally noticed after one treatment however we usually recommend a course of 3 – 5 treatments every 4 weeks.
